Here’s the official blurb on the game :
Brutal gladiatorial battles is a top-rated show, extremely popular all over the Universe. You’ve been sent to the abandoned planet as one of the participants of the show. Your goal is to survive as long as possible, fighting back deadly creatures in the focus of billions of viewers. Kill your enemies to earn the money for weapons and upgrades. You are funded by your audience, so you have to keep yourself admired by slaughtering the monsters. Take the challenge and come out victorious from a blood bath with ferocious beasts! Become a champion of the show, full of blood, pain and insensate cruelty.
If you like your zombie horde games or something with a retro vibe you’ve certainly come to the write place, Pixel Gladiator is a non stop action packed slug fest where the aim is to merely survive to gain more points to rise up the leaderboard. While you jump into the action there are a few modes to choose from (which are basically the same) you have survival – it is what it is – and then the choice of 3 arenas each with a different look and feel to it but pretty much the same gameplay whichever mode you choose.
The controls do seem a bit clumsy and a bit difficult to get your head around as they’re not your normal movement controls, but once you do get used to them it becomes pretty straight forward. As you earn credits after each round you can purchase better defences and bigger and better weapons.
As the game moves on, pretty much like any other horde style game the enemies get bigger and harder as you get on with the rewards being greater the longer you last.
Graphics and Sound
The name of the game kind of gives the style away PIXEL GLADIATOR, yes it’s a pixelated retro side scrolling blood bath. The graphics work well in a nostalgic viewpoint.
The chip tune sound track really adds to the nostalgic vibe bringing back memories of the good old platformers.
My thoughts on Pixel Gladiator, it’s certainly not the best 2d shooter I’ve ever played but certainly not the worst,it is a lot of fun but dies get repetitive quickly, it’s certainly a game I would recommend having a go of.
Verdict – out of 5⭐️
I give Pixel Gladiator 3⭐️ it’s not the worst game in the world by a long stretch, it’s a game that will keep you entertained for a while.
