Overview

Sasha Fulton looks like she has it all – the glittering media career, the happy marriage, the perfect kids. But the truth behind the shining façade is very different. The job is nothing but pressure, and the stroppy teens aren’t even hers. She’s fast reaching breaking point.

When Sasha’s new twenty-something assistant Jenna walks through the door, she seems like the answer to her prayers. Dazzlingly efficient, with a whip-smart wit, Sasha’s soon wondering how she ever lived without her.

But with trouble mounting at home and at work, Sasha is starting to lose control. As the lines between professional and personal become dangerously blurred, she feels like there’s only one person she can rely on.

Overview taken from the official book press release.

Review

Right now seems to be the season of thrillers, so many fantastic books are coming out and pushing the quality level higher. The latest title to join the fray is Everything You Have the gripping new thriller from author Kate Ruby.

The story follows high flying Sasha who seems to be living her best life at the very top of her high flying game but in reality the cracks beneath the surface are becoming harder to paper over, the perfect marriage, perfect family and perfect life all look nice and sparkly but the reality is far from the truth, behind the scenes Sasha is struggling both professionally and privately the perfect family isn’t hers and the petulant teenage step children are a challenge that she could well do without.

The story gives a unique insight into the daily life of a high flying media agency as the doors are swung open at Bright and we see Sasha put on her war mask and take the professional stage and come across as the true fire brand she wants to be and could well be if she could just cope.

When a wet behind the ears Jenna walks into the doors of Bright things for Sasha could well be about to look up, taking the impression youngster under her wing could well be all that Sasha needs, a perfect opportunity to mould this youngster into her vision but what is it that Jenna wants a successful career as assistant to one of the best in the business or is she looking to be the best in the business the power at the top could well be about to sway unless Sasha can keep her hands on it.

I like how the story runs in a unique way as it is told through the eyes of both key figures in Sasha and Jenna both running the story and the reader is aloud to get different perspectives of the story as they are told through the eyes of both the characters and it’s because of this I felt the story was far more immersive. Kate Ruby has an intense writing style that keeps you on edge as you read through the story with the knowledge that something is round the corner but you don’t know what that something is and you don’t know which corner, this keeps you firmly on the edge of your seat.

Summary

Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I felt this book was an intense well written thriller that kept you guessing throughout. You kind of get the idea that the media industry is cut throat and intense but having this insight is refreshing. Kate Ruby has an intense writing style and you can tell that she has previously been a TV producer as this book is well worthy of a place on the screen.

Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐

⭐⭐⭐⭐

GOOD

I’m giving Everything You Have a good score of 4 ⭐, it has pretty much everything you could want from a thriller and intensity by the bucket load. I’d definitely recommend you picking this up but be warned you may not want to put it down.
